A longstanding connection.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra first visited Canada in 1951 and returned for performances in 1967 and 1976. In June 1978, Toronto’s Ontario Place celebrated Israel’s 30th anniversary with the inaugural Israeli Day celebration, featuring the orchestra and folk artists such as the Yitzhak Argaman Trio.

In 1985, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra returned to Canada for a performance at Montreal’s Place des Arts under the direction of Zubin Mehta, and in 1989 to give a joint concert with the TSO as a fund-raising event for both.

In 2017, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra returned to Canada for a performance at Roy Thomson Hall under the direction of Zubin Mehta. CFIPO held its first gala benefit, in honor of Maestro Mehta’s incredible legacy as Music Director for Life.

With your help, we hope to host them once again very soon.
